The 1891 2½as on 4½as Queen Victoria Surcharge - Misplaced Overprint On the 1st of January 1891 the “2½as on 4½as” surcharge was issued in response to a change in postal rates implemented on the same date.

There are several varieties in this surcharge due to variations in the relative positions of the letters and figures one of which is illustrated here.
