The 1902-1911 King Edward VII Issue With the death of Queen Victoria on 22 January 1901 and the crowning of King Edward VII a new set of definitive stamps was issued with the first stamps being released on 9 August 1902 depicting the new monarch. A total of 17 values were issued being 3 pies, ½a, 9 pies, 1a, 2as, 2as 6 pies, 3as, 4as, 6as, 8as, 12as, 1 rupee, 2 rupees, 3 rupees, 5 rupees, 10 rupees, 15 rupees and 25 rupees. The values were issued in seventeen different colors and, in some cases, different shades thereof.
