The second overprint can be recognized by the central placement of “½” between the two “N’s”.

The type 2 overprint and surcharge is comprised of thinner and more rounded lettering and the ink of the overprint is less black compared to type 1. The 2 Rupees stamp was issued in February 1957 but the exact date is not known – for the sake of dating the stamp the 1st of February has been taken as the date of issue. Pane 3A was used and the overprint was done on medium cream paper.
