The World Scout Jubilee Jamboree - Solid Pearl Variety - 1957 The World Scout Jubilee set from 1957 brought along with it a flaw known as the “Solid Pearl” flaw. The flaw is found in Row 14/5 and presuming that it is constant there should be a total of approximately 1348 stamps with the flaw.

QE II High Value Castle Definitive Issue - 1957 The second set/type of the QEII high value definitive stamps came to the market during 1957 and 1958. The type 2 overprint was plate overprinted and surcharged, however, it is not known whether the overprint was done by Waterlow or by Harrison. The type 2 overprint and surcharge are comprised of thinner and more rounded lettering and the ink of the overprint is less black compared to type 1. The values were unchanged: 2 Rupees – 5 Rupees and 10 Rupees.

QE II High Value Castle Definitives - September 1957 The Type 2 overprint was plate overprinted and surcharged, however, it is not known whether the overprint was done by Waterlow or by Harrison. The type 2 overprint and surcharge is comprised of thinner and more rounded lettering and has central bars of the "EE" of Rupees "tappered" and not square ended as Type 1. The lettering is slightly thinner and the edges of the letters are rounded.

QE II High Value Castle Definitive Issue - 1957 On the 10th of October 1957 the second set of QEII high value definitive stamps was released. Similar to the 1955 set but different by this time being plate printed. It is not known whether Harrison or Waterlow did the overprinting. Its much thinner lettering with rounded corners typically recognizes the Type 2 printing.

The 2nd Local Issue – 1957 Bahrain issued its second local set of stamps on the 16th of October 1957 following the decimalization of the Indian External Rupee. As a consequence of the decimalization all “Anna” surcharges were withdrawn on March 31st 1957 and replaced with the “NP” overprints on April 1st 1957. The set consists of 3 stamps and the values issued were: 3 Paise, 6 Paise and 9 Paise. Donaldson notes that the official number of stamps printed of the second issue was only 3000 of each value but their availability in the market suggests that the printing was much greater.

The 1958 Definitive Issue – Local Stamps Kuwait took its first step towards postal independence with the release of three stamps depicting the then ruler, Sheikh Abdullah al Salim al Sabah, on the 1st of February 1958. The stamps were introduced for the purpose of internal postage only. The values issued were 5 NP, 10 NP and 40 NP. The 5 NP and 10 NP stamp were used for normal local letters while the 40 NP was used for the internal registration fee.

QE II High Value Castle Definitive Issue – De La Rue – 1960 The third type of the QEII high value definitive stamps came to the market around 1960. The third type is overprinted on the De La Rue castles instead of the previous Waterlow. The individual lines of the DLR print are clearer that the Waterlow print. All the DLR paper is white. Two values were issued with overprint on the De La Rue stamps: 2 Rupees and 10 Rupees. The DLR 2 Rupee stamp is more of a chocolate shade brown than the blackish brown shade of the Waterlow print and the DLR 10 Rupee is more blue and less ultramarine.
